Our love for this breed began in 2003 when my husband and I bought our first Bernese puppy as a wedding gift to each other. I had always admired the breed and knew I would have one someday. I have had experience with many other breeds in the past but nothing compares to having a Berner! Both my husband and I grew up in families who raised puppies. His family raised Golden Retrievers and our raised English Setters. I knew that someday I would like to raise puppies as well and share that experience with my children. That dream came true with the help of a special breeder who was willing to take the time to mentor me. Since then it has become a passion of mine to learn more about this breed every chance I get. Whether it is about breeding, nutrition, holistic care, health, structure, drafting, training, the list goes on! In 2013 I completed a course in Canine Reproduction offered by the University of Minnesota. I also enjoy reading articles regarding homeopathic remedies and essential oils and how they can be used on animals. We use medicinal grade essential oils on our dogs and occasionally on the puppies as well. We find them very beneficial during stressful situations such as whelping, weaning, or during transports to the vet.
I am fortunate enough to be home during the day working in my home based business, the Paradise Paw Spa, where I am the shop owner and dog groomer. Grooming is my job but raising Berners is my passion! My husband works as a Auto Body Technician. He is my right hand man when it comes to puppy chores. We have two children ages 7 and 10 who love to help socialize and entertain the puppies.
All of our dogs live with us, in our home, as part of our family. We enjoy taking them to obedience class, dabbling in agility, taking them camping, swimming in the lake, and some will even pull a cart or sled.
We are dedicated breeders who strive to produce healthy, sound Berners with wonderful dispositions. We are committed to our puppies and their new owners for life. We look forward to creating new relationships with our puppy owners so we can stay in touch with them as their puppy matures. We are always here to answer any questions you may have regarding your puppy or the breed in general. We also take the time to educate the new owners about several topics that we believe are important to keep their new companion happy and healthy for many years to come!
